It’s been 25 years since I’ve been to Puerto Vallarta. Sitting here I’m wondering how much it’s changed in that time. There were no all-inclusive hotels, in fact there were maybe half the hotels along the coast now. There was not much to do back then other than to sit on the beach or next to a pool and chill out. We did go to the flea market in side a large building south of town. They had exceptional prices on jewelry, intricately painted ceramics and beaded artwork. It was fun but rather boring. I have heard Zip-Lines have become popular in the jungles along with ATV adventures. I’m looking forward to discovering a new Puerto Vallarta.
What to do in Puerto Vallarta
Researching what to do now I’m finding it hard to decide. Should I take a tour of Puerto Vallarta to see how much its changed or should I get my adventure on and do the Extreme Adventure Zip Line Park? I don’t know, I could make this a shopping trip or spend some time in “Old Vallarta” and get some history of the area. My desire and what I would love to do is to go out to the Sierra Madre tropical forest to see authentic Mexican villages and get the culture of historic Mexico. I wouldn’t mind taking the boat to Los Arcos and swim with the turtles either. With this being a very quick 3 day trip it doesn’t leave much time for sightseeing.
There is a lot to think about in the next few hours before leaving for Mexico. What will I end up doing? Will I find a reputable tour company to do all the things I am planning to do? Is the hotel we picked to stay at in a good and safe area? I’ll report back when I return from Puerto Vallarta or when have Internet again!
