Wandering through a Southern California shopping mall I looked through the window of a travel store and had to go in. I think it was the name that caught my eye. The PacSafe Anti Theft day pack is just what I need for our upcoming trip to Europe. After having my backpacks opened up 4 times in the past two years while traveling it was time to do something about these petty thieves.
Asking questions about the pack with the store clerk it helped to make up my mind to purchase it. First of all the material is double weaved with special fabrics that are slash proof. The other feature is the zipper latches onto a hidden hook that make it difficult for pickpockets to open without you knowing it. The hook at the bottom of the pack, an extension of the slash proof shoulder straps has another latch that you can hook onto your belt looks for extra security. The clerk assured me there has not been one complaint with this product and in fact was planning on purchasing one for herself.
It sounds like a good buy on sale for $89 so I purchased the Venturesome 25L GII pack. It was slightly heavier than most packs the size due to the heavier material. It’s not a problem since there is a strap you can attached around your hips to lighten the load.
Arriving home I immediately started to shove a camera, laptop and iPad into it. It was surprising how much room there is and compartments to organize your pack. The pocket in the rear was perfect for the iPad, and secret compartments for your valuables. An RFID pouch comes with the pack so your credit cards cannot be read by an thieves with card readers. I had planned to pick one up before leaving anyways.
Since being hit up in Rome, Paris, Naples and in a train station in Prague I am looking forward to having security while traveling. I will write a detailed review after I return from our trip.
